The Central Government and Railway Ministry approved the massive Guntakal–Wadi 3rd and 4th railway line project as part of a national railway expansion plan.

- Route: Guntakal (Andhra Pradesh) → Wadi (Karnataka)
- Length: Around 230 km
- Estimated Cost: Approximately ₹4,758 crore
- Objective: Convert the existing double-line railway corridor into a four-line corridor.

The project includes:
- 3rd and 4th railway tracks
- 2 mega bridges
- 35 major bridges
- 382 minor bridges
- Large-scale signalling and railway infrastructure upgrades.
Why This Project Is Important
The Guntakal–Wadi route is one of the busiest railway freight corridors in South India.
It is heavily used for:
- Coal transportation to thermal power plants
- Cement industry logistics
- Fertilizer transportation
- Passenger trains between Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Telangana.
