Sri Nettikanti Anjaneya Swamy Vari Temple Kasapuram is one of the most famous Hanuman temples in Andhra Pradesh, located near Guntakal in Anantapur district. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, worshipped here as “Nettikanti Anjaneya Swamy,” and is believed to be a powerful spiritual place where devotees receive protection, courage, and relief from difficulties. Thousands of pilgrims visit the temple every week, especially on Saturdays and during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations.
History and Significance
According to temple history, during the reign of Sri Krishnadevaraya, the great saint Sri Vyasaraya visited the region. Lord Hanuman appeared in his dream and instructed him to reinstall the idol at a sacred place where a dried neem tree would become green again after touching it. Following this divine sign, Sri Vyasaraya consecrated the self-manifested idol of Lord Hanuman at Kasapuram, and the temple later became famous as the Nettikanti Anjaneya Swamy Temple.
The word “Nettikanti” is believed to mean “one-eyed,” as only one eye of the idol is clearly visible. Devotees strongly believe that the deity fulfills wishes, removes negative energies, and protects people from hardships and illnesses.
